Prince Mohammed Bin Salman Nature Reserve
Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
The Reserve, covering an area of 21,000km2 contains an extraordinarily diverse range of landscape typologies, including volcanoes, harrats (volcanic lava field), the Hejaz mountains, remote deserts, wadis, coastal landscapes along the Tihamah, and the largely unspoilt and sparsely populated Red Sea Coast. Unlike other Reserves worldwide, its defining characteristic is diversity rather than overall coherence. In addition, there are a wealth of cultural and heritage assets within the Reserve that should be protected.
Our Team, working with economic consultants, were commissioned to study the Reserve’s existing condition and make proposals for the enhancement (rehabilitation) and protection of the Reserve whilst also designing opportunities to create visitor attractions and educational facilities to drive tourism, nationally and internationally.
