The tuwaiq Reserve (formerly Al Aredh National Park) seeks to build on the on-going success of the Wadi Hanifah development to create a protected landscape covering more than 3,000km2.
The park is extremely rich in biodiversity, with 10% of the total number of plant species in Saudi Arabia contained within its boundaries. It also possesses an area of escarpment where dry and tropical weather acacia trees meet – believed to be the only place in the world where this occurs.
The Reserve is being created to celebrate the unique and little-explored natural landscape on the city of Riyadh’s doorstep. The park will welcome visitors from across Saudi Arabia, and beyond, offering a wealth of opportunities to discover, enjoy and learn about our spectacular environment and the rich cultural history it holds.
