Imam Saud Bin Abdulaziz Nature Reserve
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
Imam Saud bin Abdul Aziz reserve is a 2,550 km2 nature reserve located in the Makkah Province some 160Km to the east of Taif Airport. The reserve is characterised by its valleys and sandy plains and was first established to reintroduce the Arabian Oryx.
The designation of the site as a Royal Reserve will significantly enhance its potential to develop into a sustainable conservation resource with genuine potential to contribute positively to a better understanding of the region’s native fauna.
The aim of the reserve is to contribute to Saudi Arabia’s environmental, ecological and sustainable best practices in an experiential safari park, eco-resort and complementary entertainment park. Dedicated to the preservation of indigenous habitats and wildlife and reconnecting local communities to their cultural heritage and landscapes, through provision of leisure, recreation and entertainment facilities that support the future of Saudi Arabia’s environmental and sustainability agenda.
The scheme will provide significant new employment potential through private sector investment in relevant, sympathetic entertainment facilities.
